About my Truck

I inherited this 1949 chevy pickup from a lifelong friend that passed in january of 2009.  He lived in San Diego and I live in Oregon. It took some doing but with the help of some mutual friends we got the truck to Oregon.  I was excited at first, and then I discovered the sad truth.  My friend had let the truck sit since 1983 in not so dry locations and there was rust everywhere.  The back corners of the front fenders, the cowls, the floor, the cab, the doors, it was everywhere.  Had the truck sat for another couple of years it wouldn't have been savable without buying aftermarket replacements for all of the rusted parts.  As it was we were able to use patch panels and cut the rust out.  We've been working hard and are getting close to completion.  I decided I wanted it to be a flatbed, and also that it would have flames.  We recently finished the paint and the flames came out great.  Once we assemble it again, we'll clear coat it and then cut and buff it to perfection.
